In this hands-on masterclass, you will discover each step of the pastel de nata making process, guided by a professional pastry chef.

Our chefs are trained by chef João Batalha, co-founder of Nat’elier, who has taught more than 30,000 students worldwide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who teaches the masterclass?
Our masterclasses are led by Nat’elier pastry chefs who have all been trained directly by co-founder chef João Batalha. Every instructor is part of our in-house team and follows the same trusted recipe, technique, and teaching approach.
How many people are in each class?
Our mixed group classes can host up to 14 participants. For larger private events, we’re happy to accommodate more. Please get in touch with us directly to discuss your group’s needs.
What languages are the classes offered in?
Our regular masterclasses are offered in English and Portuguese. If neither language is suitable, please contact us by email to discuss availability in other languages, such as French or Spanish.
Can children join the class?
Yes! Children aged 8 and up can participate in regular group classes with a child ticket. From age 13 onward, an adult ticket is required. Younger children are welcome only in private sessions, where the pace and structure can be adjusted accordingly. Before booking a private class, please email masterclass@natelier.pt with your preferred dates.
Do kids pay less?
Yes. We offer child tickets for participants aged 8 to 12. Teenagers from 13 years old require a regular adult ticket. Children under 8 are only welcome in private sessions, which follow a different pricing structure.
How long does the class last?
The full experience lasts around 2 hours. That includes the baking session, plus time to enjoy your freshly made pastéis de nata with a barista crafted coffee or drink of choice.
How do I book a private session?
Please contact us at masterclass@natelier.pt and we will send you a form to complete with all your relevant event details, whereby we will then customise a proposal to meet all your needs
Do you offer a vegan option?
During the class, we teach the traditional recipe for pastel de nata, which includes dairy and eggs, so we don’t adapt the recipe during the experience. However, if you prefer not to taste the ones you made, you’ll be able to enjoy our vegan pastéis de nata at the end, which are also suitable for those who are lactose intolerant.
Do you offer a gluten-free option?
We’re afraid we don’t. With Unfortunately not. The traditional recipe includes wheat flour both in the puff pastry and the custard. Our kitchen is not gluten-free, and we currently don’t provide an alternative.
Are there any nuts in the recipe?
No nuts are used in the standard recipe during the class. That said, some pastéis de nata in store containing nuts are prepared in the same kitchen. We take food safety very seriously and carefully clean and prepare the space before every session; however, we cannot fully guarantee the absence of trace amounts. If you or anyone in your group has a nut allergy, please let us know when booking. We’ll be happy to discuss your needs in advance and take every possible precaution to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.
Can I reschedule my booking?
We totally understand that plans can change. If you give us enough notice, we’ll always do our best to reschedule your experience, subject to availability.
What’s your cancellation/refund policy?
Cancellation and refund policies vary depending on the platform you booked through. If your booking was made via a third-party platform, please contact them directly for assistance. For bookings made directly through our website, our cancellation and refund policy can be found in our Terms & Conditions.
Do you work with partners in the travel industry?
